[R E V I E W] : Lupa Essentials Coconut Rose Clay Mask - Does It Really Work?

[Disclaimer: Product was gifted by brand but all opinions are entirely my own].

A local, organic brand specializing on blended clay masks is currently on the hype in the Philippine Asian Beauty Community. If you look at the first photo, you might be wondering where you saw it previously? Ring a bell? You guessed it right! I already made a review about another variant and this is still a product from this up and coming brand called "Lupa Essentials". You may click here to view my first review about their Lemongrass+Neem variant, which I have fallen in obsession with. So for today, I tried out their Coconut Rose variant and the question at hand: Does it really work? Is it worth the hype at all?

Let me tell you something, unlike most people who find it a tedious job to mix clay masks, I am the opposite. Making DIY masks is something I truly enjoy, and everything else related to it! From the creative process of mixing the powder with water (or whatever treatment liquid that floats my boat), to witnessing it form into a glorious, cakey mixture, to the cooling sensation as it touches my face, to the hardening process that hinders from moving any part of my face, to the rinsing and feeling just how smooth and glowing my face feels right after everything it has been through. I just felt the need to illustrate that, thank you for your patience. By the way, take a look at the photo right below and tell me you liked it? Props to my Instagram husband for the photo and to Pinterest for the inspiration. LOL.

Winter vibes anyone? Too this photo at dawn, really chilly so don't judge my sweater.

Let me try something out with today's review, yes? It just occurred to me that my review formatting may be too "Tita" or too boring. So let me attempt to write a freestyle review for now, shall we? ANYHOO!

So why Coconut Rose? I'm currently breaking out due to the unpredictable weather but it's mostly cold here up in the mountains and I'm starting to get flaky on several areas of my face. The more dry my skin gets, the more chances of waking up to new zits the following day. I was looking for something hydrating enough and at the same time, would take care of my acne. Well, I had to look no further since one of the mask variants gifted to me by Lupa Essentials is the perfect weapon for this war!

It's no secret that coconut fights dryness, as well as it's naturally anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. On the other hand, Roses have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness and calm the skin. Talk about hitting two birds in one stone!

Inside the packet. Looks can be deceiving. This is good for 8 usages!

THE LOW DOWN

All of Lupa Essentials' variants come in singular packets in 20 and 40 grams each, retail price depends on the variant. The Coconut Rose retails for Php 160 and Php 260 respectively. This gifted packet came in 10 grams each and is good for about 5 to 8 usages, depending on how much you use. Mine would probably last for 10 usages (or even more) since I only need an itty bitty amount of the powder and it's more than enough to cover my face. Pricing is very affordable if you ask me.

Fine, powdery texture. It pleases me visually lol

THE EXPERIENCE

If I had extra time, I would most likely add some honey or turmeric, or even yogurt into the mixture but since laziness always gets the better of me, I decided to use it as it is. A pea sized Coconut Rose powder together with a few drops of mineral water and I'm good to go. You can add either more powder or water, depending on your preference.

Few drops of mineral water added. Add more powder if you want it thicker.

Same with the Lemongrass+Neem, I'd always love the cooling sensation whenever my brush glides through my face. It felt like it somehow immediately soothes my angry skin. I let the mask sit on until it solidifies so that would take about 15 to 20 minutes before I rinse it off. By the way, always find time to take a selfie and project your inner goddess when masking, because why not?

Masking ala Cleopatra lmao

THE VERDICT

Rinsing the mask off is a breeze. I'm not so sure if it's just me, but washing is my least favorite part of masking since most of the ones I've used are so difficult to remove! It would almost feel like rinsing cement off my face but I didn't experience that with Lupa Essentials masks which is a plus! All it takes is a single wipe of my wet hands on a masked area and it's quickly washed off.

Usually, my face would show pale Red patches after rinsing which was said to be normal. It typically happens when I use Bentonite or Fuller's Earth clay but Coconut Rose takes the cake because I only see a smooth, hydrated, bright and glowing complexion right after washing! The effect is so instant, it's almost too good to be true. No redness, no dryness, no tightness! See for yourself :)

Bare faced and proud, yey!

As suggested by Ms. Rae, it's still best to hydrate right after masking so I did the rest of my routine afterwards. I always use a moisturizing sheet mask after, best combo ever!

If I could rate this mask a hundred stars, I would. Out of all the clay masks I've tried, this brand takes all the brownie points! THE.HYPE.IS.REAL.YA'LL. I will definitely purchase all the other variants as soon as I run out of stock. No questions asked.
